Attempting Glimpses of Glory
I have updated this site with a variety of older and hitherto unseen writing, which will have to do until I get done with torturing myself over a Russian project. Check out the archives for the full selection.
You see, I have read Glory by Vladmir Nabokov, and have been inspired to gloss some of his powerful imagist moments — those of infinite possibility, as he puts it — and to do so with a 19th century Russian metre, rhyme, and poetic sensibility.
This of course has caused me to spend a lot of time thinking about the problem of writing in such a sing-song, romantic form for a jaded contemporary world. Can the corrupt gloss innocence?
