Happy Thanksgiving / Columbus Day

It's all one and the same, right? Actually, my experience of the Canadian Thanksgiving is that it never includes the tale of the "first Thanksgiving" so prominent in U.S. tradition. Maybe it's just because I grew up in Northern B.C., but our focus is more on the bounty of the harvest, and on thanking the powers that be for our good fortune over the year.

But just in case one would let that version of the holiday warm one's heart, here's a little film reel , from South of the border circa 1951, to remind us all of the common heritage of our wealth.

Happy (home grown / organic) Thanksgiving, fellow curmudgeons and all!
